Elizabeth's Dream Day We were finally able to follow through on Elizabeths dream day of a shopping spree. Her mom helped us work out the details. Her mom and us met up at Greenwood Park Mall on a Saturday afternoon. We had lunch together, after which the fun commenced. We were lucky enough to have gift cards from Victoria Secret, Macy's, and Old Navy. Let's just say... we shopped till we dropped! Elizabeth was having the time of her life picking and choosing one cute outfit, to another. We sent Elizabeth home with new clothes, a backpack but more importantly... new memories. The boys Dream Day As the school year comes to a close.... we are able to squeeze in one more dream day. Dwayne, Dylan, Cameron, and Kameron are about to go to Great Times this Saturday with a few of our other friends from our class. Great Times is an arcade place with many games, and fun to be had. We are going to spend our grant money to get tickets and points to play the games. We fortunately have enough money for the boys to have a fun time, and for us to partake in the fun with them as well! We are very sad to come to a close.... but excited how many lives we have impacted, and dreams we have fulfilled. This class taught so many morals and values one should have. This class taught selflessness, integrity, hard work, and compassion for others.

Planning Continued Since the last blog post, we have done more and more planning. We have made plans to take three girls, Jill, Jenny, and Addy to a girls day out April 20th. We have also planned to take the three boys Kameron, Cameron, Dylan, and Dwayne to Great Times at an undecided date. We are so excited to get these dream days completed, and can't wait to see their reactions! Girls Day Out Before taking Jill, Jenny, and Addy to a girls day out we had to talk to Studio 52 and hash out the details. We also decided to plan a photoshoot after they get their nails, hair, and makeup done. Wednesday we decided to go to NPI to gather dresses for the girls from the dress drive. We were able to communicate with Melissa Hurst to pick out some dresses for the girls. We are very excited for April 20th because that is the day we are going to all meet up at Studio 52 and let the day of beautifying commence! Great times After we finish the girls dream day, we plan to take the boys out. We had a more difficult time in organizing this day because we weren't sure what arcade game to go to. We took Chase and Blake to Main Event Entertainment, and were planning to go there with Kameron, Cameron, Dylan, and Dwayne. Sadly, the manager got back with us and said they were booked for a while, so we decided to look into Great Times. Although not our first option, Great Times will still be fun, and we are excited to take the boys there to have some fun!!
Planning These last few weeks have been major planning days. After the meeting with Mrs. Amones, we were able to gather information for future Dream Days. We have a few leads already, but the most challenging part of planning is getting dates to correlate, and get ahold of companies. We found out that Jill, Addi, and Jenny would love a beauty day, and we found Kameron would love a cookies and canvas. From there we began our research! Studio 52 The largest lead for our next project is a beauty day for Jill, Addi, and Jenny. We have contacted Studio 52, a hair and nail salon, about giving these girls a pamper day. They would get their nails, and hair done by professionals. We are also planning to obtain dresses from the Dress Sale they could wear for a few hours. Of course after they are beautified, we would have a photo shoot!! We were fortunate to have Studio 52 respond to us fairly quickly. They said they would love to help out in any way they can! We have our date set for April 20th at 3:00! We were also planning to send them home with a basket full of makeup, lipgloss, nail polish... etc. Cookies and Canvas For Kameron, we are planning a cookies and canvas. Last Friday I called a cookies and canvas venue and they responded on that Monday. After exchanging details, I gathered some helpful information. It would be $20 per painter, and juice with cookies would be provided! We are deciding to use some of our grant money to go towards that Dream Day. We don't have an exact date for this one yet, but we are communicating periodically with Mrs. Amones to find a perfect time!
Meeting at NPJH with Erin Amones Wednesday the 13 we headed over to NPJH to discuss our future Dream Day kids! It was a blast getting to know some of the kids, and interacting with them. Erin gave us a lot of useful information to start with. We already have a pretty good idea of what is in our future. We were able to meet Jenny, Jill, Cam, Kameron, Dwane, Dylan, and Addi. We hope to take Jenny, Jill, and Addi on a fun girls day out! They all wanted to get their nails painted, get a make over, and spend time doing girly things! We were able to speak to Jenny most of the time and she was hilarious. She would make funny statements like "come on girls", and "you are my girls" haha. We can't wait to begin our next journey and make dreams come true!!
Chases Dream Day Sunday the 27th was Chases big day!! We decided to start the day around 10:45, that way we would have time to pick everyone up, eat lunch, and be at Main Event Entertainment by 1:00. Chase decided he wanted to dine at McDonald's and bring his friend Blake, so that's just what we did. We picked up Blake and Chase and we were off. Chases driveway was somewhat of a struggle to get out of so after 2 minuets of struggling Chase said "Are we going to go yet?", and then Blake chimed in and asked "Are we there yet?". Throughout the trip there were several "Are we there yet", they were very excited!! After lunch we headed over to Main Event Entertainment to commence the fun!! First on the list was bowling. We spent and hour bowling, sharing laughs and showing our competitive spirits. To Blake, bowling was not a laughing matter. Before he would bowl, he would wind up his arm, bend down low, set his eye on the target, and then the ball would release. After his hit he would turn around with the most determined face, and a few seconds later his face would light up and turn into a big smile. After Chases bowl, he would punch both fists up in the air and excitingly say "YES!". After bowling we headed over to the arcade games. Blake seemed to love the car and motorcycle racing games. Blake challenged me several times in these games... usually he would come out victorious over me... possible racing future... who knows?! Avery and I actually got caught up in all the fun with the dance machine. We had several rounds of dance battles... and I would like to say there is definitely a dancing career in my future... After about and hour the fun had to come to a close and the boys were both very upset, but said they had such a great time. Right when we stepped out of the doors Chase asked if we could go bowling again. On the way home we stopped by McDonalds for some sweet treats. Chase and Blake both kept talking about how much fun they had in the car and it made my heart smile. I hope that was a day both of them will remember forever, because I know I certainly will. What's Next? We have unfortunately run out of kids to give dreams to at the High School, but that is not stopping us, we charge forward to NPJH! After talking to Erin Amons, we are ready to begin our first Dream Day. We need to discuss who will be granted their Dream first, and send out a form to see what their dream consists of. Right now we are awaiting anxiously for another meeting to discuss further details!!
Chases Dream Day IN progress January 27th is the big day for Chase! After a long awaited email from Main Event Entertainment, we are finally ready to take Chase on his dream day. After interviewing Chase, we found out he loves to bowl as well as loves to play arcade games. We began some research on some fun arcade and bowling places and came across Main Event Entertainment. We were initially pumped and called right away about Chase. The lady on the phone was just as excited as us! She said she could set us up on the 27th, a Sunday. After confirming this information with her, we notified Chases parents. We allowed Chase to invite one friend and he chose Blake. We are waiting Blake's parents response but are confident his parents will be on board as well. Chase's parents seemed thrilled and were completely on board. We are now sitting on the edge of our seats until the 27th! Transitioning to NPJH After planning chases Dream Day, we realized that we were entirely out of kids! We knew we had to move to another school... and we had just the connection. Grace got in contact with Erin Amons and she responded with a enthusiastic response. We were able to meet with Erin Wednesday the 16th at 11:05. We discussed future plans and even got to meet some of the students. After Chase's Dream Day, we can't wait to get started!
Chase Dream Day FutureWe are planning to take Chase on his Dream Day to Main Event Entertainment after asking him what he would love to do. He said he loves bowling, and arcade games. We decided to get hard at work researching many different arcade places. We came across Main Event Entertainment and became excited. We called them and the lady on the phone said she would love to help us out, however she would have to talk to her boss first. We are now awaiting a email from her to confirm. We asked Chase who he would like to take and Blake came up. After the email of confirmation and information, we will set up a time and day to head to Chases Dream Day.
Blakes party We were finally able to have Blakes taco party, and it was a huge success. He had the time of his life. We were able to make tacos, have cupcakes, and provide fun games to fill their day. Blake had a surplus of tacos and cupcakes that he scarfed down enthusiastically. Everything went as planned and ran smoothly. We played pin the tail on the donkey, had a scavenger hunt, played hot potato with a small taco toy, hit a piñata, and played with balloons. Ryan was especially excited about the balloons, and couldn't seem to get away. Everyone was also happy about the candy and treats provided. By the end of the party everyone had colorful faces from the icing on the cupcakes. Kinsey's Concert We were also finally able to take Kinsey to the Christian concert. Unfortunately I was not able to attend but my partners Grace, and Avery were able to go. They said she had the time of her life. She knew every song and she had a smile stretched across her face the while night. They said the road trip was long, but it was all worth it in order to make Kinsey have her Dream Day.
Taco bouta party Next week we are planning a taco party for Blake. We have gathered the materials such as posters, decorations, signs, food, and activities. We also have created an itinerary full of fun games for Blake and his friends to play that day. We are extremely excited to see Blakes reaction because we know how much he loves tacos. When we were interviewing Blake his only answer to all the questions were "TACOS!!". We have created a fun filled day that we hope blake enjoys. We went to Walmart and the Dollar Tree one Wednesday during the long day to buy taco decorations. We bought a piñata, candy, ballons, streamers, and plates. These past weeks we have been busy preparing and making taco related items. We created a sign that reads "TACO BOUTA PARTY" that we plan to hang up in the room, a donkey for pin the tail on the donkey game, and other decorations we can post around the room. I personally can't wait to see Blakes reaction, and hopes he has a memorable day filled with laughter and cheer. Concert After Blakes taco party on Tuesday, we are turning around and having Kinseys Dream Day. Her Dream consists of a Christian Concert with Matthew West and Jeremy Camp, two of her favorite singers. We were gratefully able to obtain discount priced tickets from Trinity Communications. They even said they may be able to provide us with a meet and greet with the singers. That being said we are overjoyed and can't wait. I hope she has the time of her life.
Dream #1: Kinsey & her basket preparationsALL IN TOUR/ALL PURPOSE TOUR: MATTHEW WEST & JEREMY CAMP My team and I were fortunate enough to talk to Kinsey about what she was looking for in a perfect day. We came to a conclusion that she loved listening to Christian music, so we did a little digging around for some concerts coming soon. After researching around we found the perfect day for Kinsey. We had found a Jeremy Camp and Matthew West Christian tour coming to Fort Wayne, Indiana. These two singers happen to be her favorite artists as well. It seems all swell, win/win... until.... we attempt to get the tickets... For some reason we struggled to get tickets for this concert. We wanted to try and find someone who would be willing to donate VIP tickets so that we could truly give Kinsey a hands-on, perfect day. Unfortunately we weren't able to get her VIP tickets, but we were able to get a grant. The Grant The grant was for $250, allowing us to buy her tickets. We looked and looked for decent seats with a decent price, and we were still coming up short. Then a miracle email.... we had got in contact earlier with a woman named Ann Willey from Trinity Communications, and she had finally emailed back. She was able to provide us with 4 tickets to the concert for only $28. We gratefully and excitedly said yes! Next step was the basket.... The Basket Now time to move on to the basket. Mr. Large told us that last year Louis and Hailey left a $150 Hobby Lobby gift card. We decided going to Hobby Lobby and finding gifts to fill Kinsey's basket would be perfect. Going off of her love for Christ, we decided to get her a prayer journal. We bought her matching pens and paper. We also thought getting her bracelets that say bible verses on them would be inspiring with a touch of cute. Finally we bought a photo frame so that after her dream day we would be able to take a photo with her a the concert so she will be able to remember this day for the rest of her life. Then we traveled over to Walmart and got her Hershey's candy bars... her favorite. We are now in the process of getting the baskets together, and getting her tickets in the mail so we can deliver the gift to her.
